The PDF Cleaner parses the file structure to identify and remove unnecessary elements (like author information, creation time, annotation layers, unembedded fonts, and JavaScript scripts) while compressing image resources. It outputs a standard PDF file that retains only the core content. This tool processes documents compliant with PDF 1.4 and above, achieving file size reduction and privacy protection through structural cleanup and resource optimization.
Will the PDF Cleaner change the document content?
No. The cleaning process only removes non-visible elements like metadata and annotations. All text, images, and layouts remain exactly the same.
What is the maximum supported file size?
We recommend processing PDF files under 100MB and fewer than 500 pages. Files that are too large may affect processing efficiency.
Do not process encrypted or corrupted PDF files. We recommend backing up sensitive documents locally first. The cleaning effect depends on the level of redundancy in the original document; already optimized files may not show significant size reduction.
For PDFs with high-resolution images, enabling the image compression option (if applicable) during cleaning can further enhance file size reduction. A typical use case: a 30MB meeting minutes document can be reduced to 18MB after cleaning, simply by removing author information and revision history, leaving the core content completely intact.
