This tool adds permission restrictions to PDF files. Upload one or more PDFs and select which actions to prevent: printing, high-fidelity printing, content extraction, extraction for accessibility, document modification, annotation changes, form filling, or document assembly. The generated file name includes “permissions”.
These checkboxes describe reader permissions stored with the document. PDF readers can interpret and enforce those settings differently, so a permission flag should be treated as a restriction for compatible software rather than an absolute barrier to copying or disclosure.
Printing and high-fidelity printing are separate controls. Other options separately cover extracting content, extracting for accessibility, filling forms, modifying the document, modifying annotations, and assembling pages or documents. By default, restrictions are off; select only the operations you intend to block.
This is a permissions workflow, not a tool for setting an open password. A permission restriction concerns actions a reader may take after opening a file. Do not assume that recipients will need a password just because you selected restrictions.
Consider how recipients are expected to work with the file. Blocking form filling can prevent completion of a form; blocking annotation changes can disrupt review; limiting extraction can affect text reuse and accessibility workflows. Preserve the unrestricted source file before processing so you can make a different copy if the restrictions interfere with legitimate use.

Upload PDF files. The form accepts multiple PDFs, with a 2.5 MB maximum per file.
Select each action you want to restrict. Review the separate print and high-fidelity print boxes, along with extraction, modification, annotations, forms, and assembly.
Submit the files for processing and save the generated permissions PDF for each input.
Open a copy in the reader your recipients use and inspect its displayed permissions and expected behavior.
Before applying a restriction, check that it does not conflict with the document’s purpose. A review copy may need annotation changes; an application may need form filling; an accessible document may require assistive technologies to extract content. If recipients need one of these actions, leave its restriction unselected.
For multiple files, compare each output with its corresponding source and confirm the expected pages and content remain present. Keep the original version in case a recipient needs a less restricted copy.
