Tomorrow is National Day. We'd like to wish the entire Toolkk community a happy holiday in advance.
Of course, this date also marks the official launch anniversary of Toolkk.
Time flies, and before we knew it, two years have passed.
Looking back, Toolkk has achieved some exciting “milestones” and metrics:
349 Tools
We have originally developed 349 mini-tools covering over a dozen categories, including daily life, calculators, format converters, programming and development, and finance.
5 Million Uses
Since our launch, our tools have been used over 5 million times according to incomplete statistics. Currently, our daily usage exceeds 10,000 times.
Mini-Program and App Support
In addition to the web version, we have also designed mini-programs and mobile apps to facilitate cross-device usage and data synchronization.
Major Technical Upgrades
Leveraging modern architectures, we have refactored almost all of our front-end and back-end code, significantly improving tool usability and service stability.
However, while Toolkk represents our bold attempt at building an internet product, it is not yet a serious and formal commercial product.
After all, the “online tools” category is relatively niche. Although it can generate high traffic, commercial monetization remains a challenge.
If commercial challenges are left unresolved, it restricts investment in product and technical research. These two factors constrain each other, potentially pushing a product into an “unhealthy” state.
Therefore, for the long-term development of Toolkk, we urgently need to address its business model.
As we enter the Toolkk V3 era, our product development will focus on the following directions:
-
Increasing the number and proportion of PRO and paid tools;
-
Restoring PRO membership benefits;
-
Limiting the usage frequency of certain tools based on membership tiers, depending on the tool's characteristics;
-
Enhancing features on the mini-program and app platforms;
-
Developing exclusive tools tailored for the app or mini-program environments.
Of course, some users might ask if we are abandoning our free tools. The answer is an absolute no. Pursuing a commercial model and staying true to our original mission are not inherently contradictory. With reasonable planning and resource allocation, they can coexist. Therefore, we will not only continue to offer free tools but also further update and maintain an expanding library of free tools to help even more people.
Additionally, please note a few other changes:
-
The version numbers for Toolkk's mini-program and app will now start with V3.x;
-
Effective immediately, the old website at https://v2.toolkk.com will be officially taken offline;
Toolkk still has a long way to go. Although our progress may be gradual, we hope to continue accompanying you on this journey, taking every step solidly and firmly.
