ToolKK Tab Extension Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 28, 2026

Language:简体中文·English

This policy applies only to the ToolKK Tab Chrome extension. Its primary purpose is to organize useful tools, saved websites, and productivity components in a new tab. Web searches use Chrome's current default search provider; the extension does not change Chrome's default search engine.

Information we handle

Information stored in your browser

The extension stores workspace layout, appearance settings, custom websites, component settings, custom wallpaper images, and the extension login session in browser extension storage. Notes and to-do records are stored in local storage on the extension page. Each time a new tab opens, the extension reads up to 200 browser bookmarks to show shortcuts and match local searches. Bookmarks are stored by the browser and are not uploaded by the extension.

This local information restores your new-tab workspace. The extension does not send your custom websites or browser bookmarks to ToolKK.

ToolKK account information

If you choose to register or sign in, the extension sends the phone number or email address, password, verification code, and optional invitation code you enter to ToolKK's service to authenticate you or create your account. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes the sign-in flow and the extension sends the credential returned by Google to ToolKK to complete sign-in. The extension stores the access token returned by ToolKK in browser extension storage and removes it when you sign out.

ToolKK returns an account identifier, display name, avatar, membership status, and credit balance for account and entitlement display. The extension does not read or store your payment card number, payment password, or bank credentials.

If you choose WeChat QR sign-in, ToolKK creates the sign-in QR code and handles its status; you authorize sign-in by scanning it with WeChat. If you create a membership or recharge order in the extension, it sends the product or plan identifier, order amount, and selected payment method to ToolKK. The payment page, QR code, or redirect is provided by ToolKK and the payment service you selected (WeChat Pay, Alipay, or PayPal). Payment credentials are handled by that payment service and are not entered into the extension.

Component sync and usage events

When you are signed out, component settings, notes, and to-do records stay on your device. When you are signed in to a ToolKK account, the extension syncs component configuration through ToolKK’s component service. Notes and to-do records are also synced to ToolKK while signed in. Synced information can include component type and identifier, weather location, component display settings, and the notes or to-do content you create.

The extension also sends component events to ToolKK, such as component type and instance identifier, action type, time, platform and extension version, and necessary action or error metadata. These events support the components, sync feature, and troubleshooting. The extension does not send new-tab search queries to ToolKK’s component event service.

Search

Quick search on the new tab matches the tool catalog, websites, and bookmarks locally. When you submit a general web search, the extension uses Chrome Search API to send the query to Chrome's current default search provider. The query goes to the provider selected in Chrome; the extension does not change that setting or send the query to ToolKK.

Requests to external services

The extension connects to api.toolkk.com for the tool catalog, account, and component services, and requests relevant services when you use the weather component, component sync, or component actions. ToolKK uses Alibaba Cloud and Cloudflare infrastructure services; these providers may process service requests for hosting, network delivery, or security. Related requests allow ToolKK and its service providers to receive connection information needed to provide the service, such as IP address, request time, browser language, extension version, and request content.

The “On This Day” component retrieves public historical information from Baidu Baike (baike.baidu.com). When an image is shown, the browser may also request it from a Baidu image CDN. Opening a ToolKK website or tool takes the browser to www.toolkk.com.

How information is used and shared

ToolKK processes the information above only for features you use in the extension, including account sign-in, the tool catalog, component display and sync, service security, and troubleshooting. ToolKK does not sell extension personal information, use it for personalized advertising, or share it with advertising platforms or data brokers.

Information is provided only to the services needed for the feature: ToolKK’s API and component service and its infrastructure providers (Alibaba Cloud and Cloudflare), the default search provider you selected in Chrome, and the login or payment service you select (Google, WeChat, WeChat Pay, Alipay, or PayPal). The browser connects to Baidu Baike and its image CDN to load “On This Day” content. The extension does not read or send webpage text, bookmarks, or web search queries to ToolKK or unrelated third parties. Syncing notes and to-do records after sign-in is part of the component sync feature available with your ToolKK account.

ToolKK or its service providers may also process relevant information when required by law or necessary to protect service security. The extension does not sell, rent, or transfer user data for other purposes.

Retention and your choices

Workspace settings and notes or to-do records are stored on your device until you delete them in the extension, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. The login token remains stored until you sign out, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension. Account and component data synced to ToolKK are processed by ToolKK’s servers. To access or delete that data, use account deletion in your ToolKK account settings or contact toolkk@byteee.com.

You can change your default search provider in Chrome settings; new-tab web searches follow that setting. You may use local workspace features that do not require an account without signing in. Component records are not synced to ToolKK while signed out.

Security and Chrome Web Store Limited Use statement

Network connections between the extension and ToolKK services use HTTPS. ToolKK uses user data only as needed to provide, maintain, and protect the functionality disclosed for this extension. Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
