Enter principal, term, and annual rate to estimate fixed deposit interest.
Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
This calculator estimates the return on one lump-sum deposit in Chinese yuan (CNY). Enter the principal, an annual interest rate supplied by you, and a term of 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, or 60 months. It does not look up current bank rates, so use a rate from the specific bank and product you are considering. The task is a CNY estimate for China-related deposits; it is not a US certificate-of-deposit or APY calculator.
The estimate applies the entered annual rate to the original principal for the selected fraction of a year. It does not add accrued interest back to principal:
For example, CNY 100,000 at 1.95% for 12 months gives CNY 1,950 estimated interest and CNY 101,950 at maturity. The average figures are allocations across the term, not monthly or daily payments. The result display rounds money to two decimal places.
Guide
Follow the workflow and verify inputs and outputs with practical examples.
Enter the amount you plan to deposit in CNY. The value must be greater than zero for a result to appear.
Select 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, or 60 months. The calculator converts months to a fraction of a year in its formula.
Use the bank’s quoted annual percentage rate. For a rate of 1.95%, enter 1.95, not 0.0195. A zero rate is accepted and produces zero interest.
Review estimated interest and the maturity total. Change one input at a time when comparing scenarios so you can see how the principal, rate, or term changes the result. The monthly and daily amounts are averages for comparison, not scheduled payouts.
Use cases
See how the tool fits into real work and everyday tasks.
If two CNY deposit offers have the same principal and term, enter each quoted annual rate in turn and note the change in estimated maturity interest. Check that both offers refer to the same type of deposit and that the quoted rates apply to the full term.
When setting aside a known CNY amount for a fixed period, use the matching term and the rate shown by the bank. The maturity total can help with rough cash planning, while the bank’s product terms determine the payable amount.
For instance, CNY 100,000 at 2% for 6 months gives an estimate of CNY 1,000 interest and CNY 101,000 at maturity. This is a calculation example, not a current market rate.
Q&A
Find concise answers to common questions and confusing cases.
No. It uses the annual rate you enter. Confirm the current rate and eligibility with the bank offering the specific deposit.
No. Interest is calculated on the original principal using simple interest for the selected term. It does not add interest to principal, model renewal, or convert a nominal rate into APY.
The estimate uses months divided by 12. A bank may apply its contract’s day-count, deposit dates, product rules, and payout conditions. The People’s Bank of China examples show both a full-month formula and an actual-days calculation method for China-specific interest examples; check the applicable terms with the bank.
No. It divides the estimated interest across the term using a 365-day year. It is an average for comparison and does not describe when a bank credits interest.
Notes
Review scope, result limitations, and important precautions before use.
This is a general arithmetic estimate for one principal amount held at an unchanged annual rate through the selected term. It does not model early withdrawal, automatic renewal, taxes, fees, partial deposits, changing rates, or a bank’s specific day-count and rounding rules. It does not provide live rates or determine whether a product is available to you. Actual interest and access to funds depend on the bank’s contract and applicable rules in the relevant jurisdiction. Confirm the currency, quoted rate, term, maturity date, and withdrawal conditions directly with the institution before making a deposit decision. This estimate is not a guarantee of return or personalized financial advice.
