When you need to capture a specific scene from a video, traditional screenshot methods often fail to pinpoint the exact keyframe. By decoding the video stream, our video frame extraction tool can precisely capture any timestamp (down to the millisecond) or automatically identify keyframes (I-frames), outputting lossless PNG or high-quality JPG images. A video frame is the fundamental unit in video encoding, with each frame containing either complete image data or difference data dependent on adjacent frames.
How do I extract the clearest single frame?
Select the "Keyframe Extraction" mode. These I-frames serve as complete reference frames in video encoding.
Are there compatibility differences between browsers?
The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Edge support HEVC decoding, while Safari requires H.264 encoded videos.
For videos longer than 3 minutes, we recommend using the keyframe mode. Avoid special characters in filenames. All processing is done locally in your browser; no files are uploaded to our servers.
For 24fps videos, the keyframe interval (GOP) is typically 2 to 10 seconds. A typical use case is extracting the first frame of every shot in a product video to create thumbnails. For example, inputting a 30-second commercial will output 6 to 15 keyframes (depending on the GOP settings).
