This worksheet generator creates an A4 practice sheet with 30 length and weight conversion problems, ready to format and print in just a few minutes. Designed for elementary math instruction, it turns essential skills such as converting kilometers to meters, kilograms to grams, hours to minutes, and square meters to hectares into printable worksheets. It covers four core measurement categories from the curriculum and uses built-in randomization to vary the range of each problem, so every worksheet is different—no more copying questions by hand.

How Questions and Difficulty Levels Are Generated

Questions are assembled locally in your browser using standard conversion factors. The generation logic can be summarized with this formula: Every question follows the expected progression of measurement skills in compulsory education. Easy uses whole numbers and one-step conversions to build an intuitive understanding that converting from a larger unit to a smaller one requires multiplication by the conversion factor. Medium and Hard introduce reverse conversions, such as centimeters to meters, along with less obvious conversion factors to strengthen students' understanding of decimal placement. The generator validates each conversion factor in real time and avoids unusually large jumps, such as converting seconds directly to hours, keeping every problem within a practical learning range.

How to Use the Generator

1. In the settings panel on the left, select at least one unit category. For example, choose only “Length,” or select both “Length” and “Weight” for mixed practice. The Generate button remains disabled until you select a category.
2. Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard from the “Difficulty” menu, then enter the number of questions in the “Questions” field. For everyday practice, 20–30 questions works well; for focused review, you can use up to 50. The estimated number of worksheet lines updates beside the field as you type.
3. Set the “Layout” to one column for larger writing space suited to younger students, or two columns for a more compact worksheet suited to older students. Then choose the paper size supported by your printer: A4, A5, B5, or Letter. When you change the paper size, the preview on the right automatically adjusts its margins.
4. Enter a worksheet title and, if needed, the student's name, grade, and class. To include an answer key for faster grading, select “Show Answers.”
5. Select “Generate” at the bottom to render the complete worksheet in the preview panel. Once the layout looks right, choose “Export PDF,” “Download PNG,” “Export Word,” or “Print” to save or print it.

Example Worksheet and Layout

Consider a typical third-grade midterm review worksheet. Select “Length” under “Unit Category,” set the difficulty to “Medium,” enter 24 questions, choose a two-column layout and A4 paper, and leave answers turned off. After you select Generate, the preview displays 12 rows across two columns. Questions may include “4.5 kilometers = ( ) meters” and “320 millimeters = ( ) decimeters.” Under the Medium conversion rules, the calculations are 4.5 × 1000 = 4500 and 320 ÷ 100 = 3.2. The tool automatically checks each conversion factor to keep questions within the intended learning level. If you change the difficulty to “Hard” and enable “Show Answers,” a question may become “2.35 metric tons = ( ) kilograms = ( ) grams,” with the correct answer shown beside the blanks or in an answer key at the end. The worksheet leaves more room for calculations, making it suitable for older students practicing multi-step conversions and unit relationships. Comparing the two difficulty levels clearly shows how the number range and decimal places change. If questions overlap or overflow in the preview, reduce the number of questions or choose a larger paper size.

Can I use the generated questions in a formal exam?

They are better suited to regular practice, classroom quizzes, and homework. Formal exams require strict review and confidentiality procedures. Teachers and curriculum specialists should treat generated questions as source material, review them manually, and assemble a new paper before using them in an exam.

Why does Medium difficulty include decimals?

This reflects the curriculum expectations for upper-elementary students. Medium and Hard deliberately introduce one- or two-decimal-place values to develop flexible thinking about conversion factors instead of relying only on memorized whole-number multiplication and division.

Why does the layout shift after I export to Word?

Different versions of Microsoft Word and WPS Office may interpret default page margins differently. After exporting, open “Layout” or “Page Layout,” set the margins to “Normal” or “Narrow,” and check whether the original font has been replaced by a system default.

Can I choose specific unit categories?

The “Unit Category” settings currently let you combine length, weight, time, and area in any way. To practice only weight conversions, select “Weight” and clear the other three categories. The generator will automatically exclude all non-weight questions.

Limitations and Important Notes

This tool supports only the commonly used metric units built into the generator, including kilometers, meters, centimeters, millimeters, metric tons, kilograms, grams, hours, minutes, seconds, square meters, and hectares. It does not cover imperial or US customary units such as miles and pounds, scientific units such as moles and kelvins, or custom conversion factors. All calculations run locally in your browser, and no data is uploaded to the cloud. However, differences between browser print engines and printer hardware may cause PDF margins to vary by 1–2 millimeters. We recommend printing a one-page test before your first full print run. If you use a shared school printer, make sure the selected paper size matches the paper loaded in the physical tray. Difficulty settings control only the number range and decimal places; they do not replace a teacher's judgment. Beginners should start with “Easy” and include an answer key to check each conversion step.
