Estimate your future retirement pension income with customizable parameters.
Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
This calculator models a hypothetical retirement fund in Chinese yuan (CNY, also written RMB). It combines a monthly salary, annual salary growth, employee contribution rate, employer contribution rate, assumed annual return, current age, retirement age, and expected lifespan. It then estimates separate employee and employer pools, their total, an equal monthly withdrawal, final modeled monthly salary, and a replacement rate.
Here, âemployer contributionâ means a percentage treated as money added to the modeled pool for the workerâs retirement. It does not establish that a real employer plan gives you ownership of that amount. The result is not a Chinese basic pension entitlement, a US Social Security estimate, or a projection of a named retirement account.
For each working year, the calculator grows the salary by the entered annual growth rate, applies each contribution percentage to that yearâs salary, and then applies one full year of the assumed return to each pool. In compact form, each pool updates as: new balance = (prior balance + annual salary Ă contribution rate) Ă (1 + annual return). The employee and employer pools use the same salary and return assumptions but their own rates.
During retirement, the total is converted to a level monthly withdrawal over the years from retirement age to expected lifespan. With monthly rate r equal to annual return divided by 12 and n equal to retirement months, the estimate is payment = balance Ă r á [1 â (1 + r)ân]. If the return is zero, it divides the balance evenly across those months. The replacement rate is that monthly payment divided by the modeled final monthly salary. Compound growth means returns are applied to prior returns as well as contributions; it is an assumption in this projection, not a promised outcome.
The displayed monthly figure assumes the same return rate continues during both saving and withdrawal. The âemployee poolâ and âemployer poolâ are arithmetic buckets; the labels do not confirm legal ownership, vesting, tax treatment, or access rules. The replacement rate compares two modeled gross amounts and does not measure how much of your actual living expenses would be covered.
Guide
Follow the workflow and verify inputs and outputs with practical examples.
Enter a current age, a later retirement age, and an expected lifespan beyond retirement. These define the modeled saving and withdrawal periods; they do not determine eligibility to retire under any countryâs rules.
Use current monthly salary in CNY. Choose whether your salary figure is gross or take-home pay, then keep that basis consistent when comparing runs. Salary growth is an annual percentage assumption.
Enter the employee rate and a separate employer rate. Use the employer field only for a plan contribution that you intentionally want to treat as part of this hypothetical pool. For a plan where employer money is unavailable to you, set that rate to zero for a more relevant comparison.
Enter an annual percentage and rerun the same scenario with lower and higher assumptions. The calculator applies it as a fixed rate throughout accumulation and retirement, so a single result can hide how sensitive the estimate is to that choice.
Review both pools and the total before focusing on monthly withdrawals. Compare the monthly amount with the modeled final salary, then check the replacement rate. Save or share the input assumptions with the result so another person can understand what it represents.
Use cases
See how the tool fits into real work and everyday tasks.
Hold salary and rates steady, then move retirement age later while keeping lifespan fixed. The model adds saving years and shortens the withdrawal period, so both the total pool and monthly estimate can change. This is a mathematical comparison, not a recommendation or eligibility check.
Run one case with only the employee contribution, then another with an employer contribution that is genuinely part of the plan you are modeling. Treat the difference as a hypothetical effect of that assumption, not as a statement about a statutory contribution system.
Keep all inputs fixed and change only annual return. Note both the accumulation pools and the monthly withdrawal. A large spread between cases is a reason to treat the output as a scenario range rather than a forecast.
Q&A

No. It does not use the location-specific wage base, contribution history, individual-account rules, benefit formula, or other information needed to determine a statutory benefit. Chinaâs published basic-pension rules describe a different calculation; see the State Council decision cited below. This page only models hypothetical CNY savings and withdrawals.
You can enter percentages as arithmetic assumptions, but the calculator does not model 401(k) plan matching rules, contribution limits, vesting, taxes, or Social Security benefits. It also displays results in CNY. Convert and interpret inputs carefully, and use a tool designed for the specific US program when estimating those benefits.
The assumed return continues during withdrawals, and the calculation spreads the balance over the lifespan you enter. A higher return or shorter withdrawal period can increase the modeled payment. Actual returns, inflation, fees, taxes, and lifespan can differ.
The modeled total pool is divided evenly across the number of retirement months. No investment growth is applied during the withdrawal period in that case.

Review scope, result limitations, and important precautions before use.
This is an educational arithmetic estimate, not financial, tax, legal, investment, or government-benefit advice. It does not predict or guarantee returns or an actual pension payment.
