When you need to know the exact wind conditions for outdoor activities, traditional weather forecasts often provide vague descriptions like "Level 3-4 wind." By connecting to the Meteorological Bureau API, this tool returns real-time wind speed (accurate to 0.1 m/s), wind direction angle (0°-360°), and cardinal direction (e.g., "Southeast wind") for specified cities. Wind speed units can be instantly toggled between m/s, km/h, and knots. Wind direction refers to where the wind is coming from: 0° is a North wind, 90° is an East wind, 180° is a South wind, and 270° is a West wind.
How do I know if the wind is suitable for flying a drone?
It is recommended not to fly when the wind speed exceeds 8.0 m/s (Level 5 wind). This tool clearly indicates the wind scale level.
Why do some cities return "No data available"?
This may be due to weather station maintenance or communication failures. It usually recovers within 2 hours. You can try checking a neighboring city as a reference.
Please enter the full administrative division name registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs (e.g., "Suzhou City" instead of "Sucheng"). Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan regions are not currently supported. Instantaneous wind speed may have an instrument error of ±0.5 m/s. During severe convective weather, we recommend checking multiple times to confirm.
For wind rose diagram analysis, we recommend collecting continuous data for 30 days. A typical summer day query in Hangzhou (30°N) shows that southeast winds (135°±15°) of 3-5 m/s often occur in the afternoon, which aligns with the land-sea breeze circulation pattern. An example input of "Hangzhou City" might output: Wind speed 4.2 m/s (15.1 km/h), Wind direction 150° (Southeast wind), Wind scale Level 3.
