Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
2048 is a number-tile puzzle. Move the tiles up, down, left, or right; tiles with the same value combine when they meet, and the merged tile takes their sum. The aim is to build a tile showing 2048. Play can continue after reaching that tile.
A valid move that changes the board adds a new low-value tile in an empty cell. Moves that leave the board unchanged do not add a tile. The score rises by the values created through merges, while the highest tile and move count describe the current run.

Use the arrow keys or W, A, S, and D on a keyboard. On a touch screen, swipe across the board; direction buttons are also available.
Equal tiles that meet in one slide combine into their sum. A tile can merge only once during that move. For example, two 8 tiles can make a 16 tile.
The page shows the current score, best score, highest tile, number of moves, and whether play is continuing, the 2048 goal has been reached, or no moves remain.
Undo reverses the most recent changed move once. It restores the earlier board and score, then becomes unavailable until another move. New Game resets the board and current score.

Use a short session to practice keeping larger tiles near one side while making room for smaller tiles to combine. Since new tiles appear after changed moves, check the empty cells before each slide and consider where the row or column will finish.
If an accidental direction disrupts your plan, the single-step undo can restore the previous board. It is also useful for comparing the immediate effect of one move, though it does not provide a multi-move history. Your best score is saved in this browser; it is not a public leaderboard.
