Read a city’s clock at a glance

This world clock shows the current local date, weekday, time to the second, and UTC offset for a fixed list of 36 cities. The cities are grouped by region, including the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Search filters this list by a city’s English or Chinese name, or by a region name; it does not search every city or let you add a location.

A UTC offset tells you how far local civil time is ahead of or behind Coordinated Universal Time at that moment. For example, a displayed UTC−04:00 means the city’s clock is four hours behind UTC at that instant. The offset is a current value, not necessarily a year-round rule: some places change their clocks seasonally, and governments can change local time rules.

Why the offset can change

Each listed city is associated with a regional time-zone identifier. The clock uses the device’s available time-zone rules to format that city’s current date, weekday, seconds, and offset. IANA explains that its time-zone database records local-time histories and changes to offsets and daylight-saving rules, and that it is updated periodically. The displayed result therefore reflects the time-zone data available in the browser or operating system; it is not a guarantee that every device has received the latest rule change. IANA Time Zones describes the database and its update process. The international date-time formatting specification defines fields for displaying local dates, times, and time-zone names or offsets. ECMAScript 2024 Internationalization API Specification documents those formatting options.

Offsets are not always whole hours. For instance, Kolkata currently uses a half-hour offset, which is why a city clock is more useful than assuming every location differs from UTC by an integer number of hours.

Find and copy a current city time

1. Search the available list. Enter a city name such as “Mexico City” or “London,” or type a region name. Search narrows the existing city cards; it does not add a new city.
2. Check the full reading. Each card shows the city, local calendar date, weekday, time in 24-hour notation, and current UTC offset. Confirm the date as well as the clock time, especially when the location may be on the previous or next day.
3. Copy the time if needed. Use the copy control beside a city’s clock. It copies the time value only, so include the city and date separately when sharing it in a message or invitation.

The seconds update as the clock runs. To compare two locations, keep both city cards visible and compare their date, time, and offset together. The page is for checking now; it has no date-and-time fields for planning a future meeting or converting a chosen time.

Scope and scheduling limits

This page is a current-time reference for its preset cities, not a complete city directory, a time-zone converter, or a scheduling service. Searching a region only filters the cities already shown; it does not mean every place in that region follows the same clock rule. A copied time contains no city or date context, so add both when sharing it. For flights, work schedules, appointments, or other plans on a particular future date, verify the time with the relevant calendar or organization. Local rules can change, and the displayed offset depends on the time-zone data available to the device.
