Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
This estimator uses metric measurements. Enter one wall’s width and height in meters, how many same-size walls you are covering, the combined door and window area in square meters, and tile width and height in centimeters. It calculates the gross wall area, subtracts the opening area, divides by one tile’s area, then applies your waste percentage and rounds the recommended tile count up to a whole piece.
Gross area = wall width × wall height × number of walls
Net area = gross area − opening area
Base tiles = net area ÷ (tile width × tile height, converted to m²)
Buy estimate = round up [base tiles × (1 + waste percentage ÷ 100)]
For instance, one 3.2 m by 2.6 m wall with a 1.6 m² opening has 6.72 m² of net area. A 30 cm by 60 cm tile covers 0.18 m², giving 37.34 theoretical tiles. With an 8% allowance, the estimate is 41 tiles after rounding up. The allowance is an input for planning, not a universal installation rule.
If you know how many tiles come in a box, enter that count to see a whole-box estimate. If you also enter a price per box, the calculator multiplies the box count by that price. The page labels this optional price in CNY, so it may not match a US store quote; use the tile count and boxes as the useful quantity outputs and check local pricing separately.

Measure the width and height of each matching wall in meters. Enter one wall’s dimensions and the count of walls with those same dimensions.
Add the combined area of doors and windows in square meters. If there are no openings, leave this value at zero.
Enter the tile’s actual width and height in centimeters, then choose a waste percentage that reflects your own cuts and breakage expectations.
For box planning, enter the number of tiles per box. Add a box price only if the displayed CNY estimate is meaningful for your comparison.
If your measurements are in feet and inches, convert the wall dimensions to meters and tile dimensions to centimeters before entering them. Keep area values consistent: subtract the openings in square meters, not square feet.
Leave the wall figures and opening deduction unchanged while trying a second tile size or allowance. That makes the change in estimated pieces attributable to the tile dimensions or waste input. Verify that the count per carton on the packaging refers to the same tile size you entered.

The calculation assumes rectangular walls covered with one tile size and subtracts only the opening area you provide. It does not lay out individual rows, include grout joints, model borders or patterns, or account for sloped surfaces and site-specific cuts. Irregular shapes should be split into simpler areas and checked by an installer.
The waste percentage is entirely user-selected; the default value is not an industry standard. Confirm the final quantity, box coverage, dye lot, and return policy with the supplier or installer before purchase. Optional price output is labeled CNY and should not be treated as a US-dollar quote.
