This tool transforms the text you enter in one of two ways. Horizontal reversal reverses the characters within each line while keeping the lines in their original order. Vertical reversal changes the order of the lines but leaves the text within each line as written.

This is character-order reversal, not mirrored lettering or upside-down Unicode text. It changes sequence; it does not draw reflected glyphs or replace letters with lookalike symbols.
Vertical reversal treats each newline-separated line as a unit, so the final line becomes first and the first becomes last. Blank lines are also lines and move with the sequence. Horizontal reversal splits at line breaks, reverses each line separately, and then joins the lines in place.
For example, with red, horizontal mode gives
blue greender; the order of the two lines stays the same. This distinction matters when reversing a list versus reversing the text characters themselves.

Character reversal operates on the string's individual UTF-16 code units. Some emoji, flags, or letters built from combining marks consist of multiple code units, so reversing them can make a symbol render differently or split its pieces. If your text contains such characters, inspect the output before sharing or using it as data.
