An A4 sheet with 9 mm line spacing can fit approximately 28 lines of writing. Generating lined paper essentially means dividing the page into evenly spaced horizontal writing guides, with an optional header and page number, to create a ready-to-print writing template. You do not need any design software or coding knowledge. The tool calculates the usable height of the selected paper, accounts for the header and footer margins, and distributes the lines according to your chosen spacing. Suppose you need a note sheet for next week’s team retrospective. You want enough room for 30 clearly written points and a margin suitable for hole punching. Select A4 under “Size” and keep the page in portrait orientation. Set “Line Spacing” to 8.5, and the preview will immediately display approximately 29 horizontal lines. Next, set “Line Weight” to 0.75, choose dark gray (#555555) for the line color, and leave the background white. Enter “Q3 Project Retrospective Notes” as the title and enable page numbers. Export the page as a PDF to produce a crisp, watermark-free vector document. Open the PDF and view it at 100% to confirm that the spacing is even, the header and footer each use approximately 5 mm of margin, and the main writing area remains unobstructed. These settings provide comfortable spacing for fountain-pen writing while leaving room for binding holes without covering your notes.
For a more extreme example, reduce the line spacing to 4 mm, switch the lines to light blue, and use a very pale cream background. The preview will become much denser, fitting nearly 60 lines on a single page. This layout may suit shorthand or pages used for extensive rough work, but it can feel crowded on standard copy paper. Consider using a slightly thicker pen or heavier uncoated paper. Comparing the two exported files makes the trade-off clear: tighter spacing increases writing capacity but reduces white space and visual comfort.

PDF is a fixed-layout format. After export, the text and lines are rendered as vector elements and cannot be edited by double-clicking them. If you need to add or remove content, update the settings in the left panel before exporting, or download the Word version, which preserves editable text boxes and line objects.
No. The watermark in the preview identifies the source and discourages unauthorized screenshots. Files downloaded through the export button—including PNG, PDF, and Word documents—are clean, watermark-free versions suitable for printing or archiving.
This is usually caused by automatic scaling in the printer driver. In the print dialog, set the scale to “Actual Size” or “100%” and turn off “Fit to Page.” Exported files already use the standard physical dimensions of the selected paper, so disabling automatic scaling keeps the lines accurately aligned with the page edges.

After exporting, first verify the physical page size and number of lines. In your PDF reader, press Ctrl+P (or Cmd+P) to open the print preview. Check that the page edges are not cropped and that the full header is visible. If lines appear broken in the preview, the display zoom is probably not set to 100%; this is typically a screen-rendering issue and will not affect printing. If lines shift after opening the Word version, check whether an add-in has changed the document grid settings. The tool uses standard paragraph borders by default and is compatible with major office suites.
