Check the exact date, countdown, and celebration traditions for Hungarian Teachers' Day. Learn about its cultural background and significance.
Observed on the first Sunday in June. Hungary first celebrated Teachers’ Day in 1952.
Teacher conferences and awards are held around this date.
Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
Hungarian Teachers’ Day, often called Pedagógusnap, follows a weekday rule rather than a fixed day of the month: it is observed on the first Sunday in June. The calendar date can therefore fall between June 1 and June 7. This page calculates that Sunday for the selected year, then shows the date and a countdown to it. Hungary’s National Legislation Database uses the same first-Sunday rule for Pedagógusnap, and the Klebelsberg Center says the observance has been held on that Sunday since 1952.
The rule is distinct from World Teachers’ Day on October 5. If you are writing about a Hungarian school, educator, or local event, use the June observance and check the organizer’s schedule separately.
Guide
Follow the workflow and verify inputs and outputs with practical examples.
On opening the page, read the event date and countdown heading to see which anniversary year is selected.
Use the year control or the next-anniversary option to view another year. The date is recalculated from that year’s June calendar; it is not carried forward as the same June day.
Use the displayed date when planning a greeting or preparing a reference. For an invitation or school event, confirm the time and location with the host.
For example, in 2027 the first Sunday of June is June 6. This is a calendar-date example, not a statement about any school’s ceremony.
Use cases
See how the tool fits into real work and everyday tasks.
A family member or colleague can check the upcoming Sunday, then schedule a message or card around the Hungarian observance.
An editor preparing an annual calendar can select the year and verify that the displayed date is the month’s first Sunday.
Use the result to establish the Hungarian calendar date before arranging a call. Confirm the recipient’s local event time independently.
Q&A
Find concise answers to common questions and confusing cases.
No. It is the first Sunday in June, so the date changes with the calendar and can fall from June 1 through June 7.
The page starts its elapsed-year count from 1952, the first observance year cited by the Klebelsberg Center. An elapsed anniversary count is not an official edition number for a ceremony.
No. It counts toward the observance date; it does not report school holidays, closures, or the schedule of a particular event.
Notes
Review scope, result limitations, and important precautions before use.
The event date is calculated using the annual weekday rule. The countdown’s hours, minutes, and seconds follow the date and clock on your device, so they can differ when devices use different time zones or clock settings. For cross-border planning, compare the calendar date first and confirm local event details with the school or organizer. The page does not determine whether a school holds a ceremony on another day.
