Free online international bank card BIN checker. Instantly look up a BIN/IIN to identify the card network, issuing country, and bank.
Enter a card number or BIN, then click Search Identify the card network and issuing country or region
Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
A BIN, also called an issuer identification number (IIN), is a leading portion of a payment card number associated with the card issuer. A prefix lookup can return reference details such as the card network, card type, issuing country or region, issuer name, and bank website. These are prefix-level records; they do not identify the cardholder or report whether an account is open.
This checker accepts a numeric entry from 6 through 19 digits, with spaces or hyphens allowed as separators. It removes those separators and looks up only the first six digits. Adding digits seven and eight, or entering a longer card number, does not make this page perform an eight-digit match. That distinction matters because the current ISO/IEC 7812-1 standard includes the numbering system for issuer identifiers and payment account numbers, and the industry has expanded BIN use to eight digits. Read this result as a broad prefix clue, not a precise assignment for every longer prefix.
After a successful lookup, the result area can show the network, card type, issuing country or region, issuer, and bank website. A field may appear as a dash when the returned record has no displayable value. A completed search means prefix-associated information was returned; it is not a pass/fail verdict on the card.
Guide
Follow the workflow and verify inputs and outputs with practical examples.
Enter the opening six digits of the card number. The field also accepts longer digit strings, spaces, and hyphens, but the search still uses only the first six digits. For a prefix lookup, there is no need to provide the remaining card number.
Submit the entry and review the returned network, card type, issuing country or region, issuer, and bank website where available.
A dash means that value was not available to display in the returned record. It does not establish that the card number is invalid. For cards issued in China, the page’s English form points users to its China-focused BIN lookup for more suitable results.
Use cases
See how the tool fits into real work and everyday tasks.
A support agent helping a customer with an international payment can use the first six digits to see the network or issuing region associated with that prefix, then direct account or decline questions to the card issuer.
A writer or analyst documenting payment fields can use the returned issuer and card-type labels as a quick reference, while checking formal routing or acceptance requirements with the relevant payment network or issuer.
Q&A
Find concise answers to common questions and confusing cases.
No. This page uses only the first six digits, even when the entry contains more. Use an authoritative issuer or payment-network source when a specific eight-digit assignment must be distinguished.
No. It checks that the entry contains 6–19 digits after spaces and hyphens are removed, then looks up the first six. It does not run a Luhn check or verify a full card number.
The returned prefix record did not provide a displayable value for that field. The missing value is not evidence that the card is invalid or unusable.
No. A prefix lookup does not check the cardholder, account status, available funds, authorization controls, or transaction outcome. Only the issuer or payment provider can answer account- and transaction-specific questions.
Notes
Review scope, result limitations, and important precautions before use.
Enter the six-digit prefix when that is all you need. Do not submit a security code, expiration date, PIN, password, or other authentication data. Avoid entering a complete live card number into a lookup form when a prefix is sufficient.
Issuer and country details are reference information tied to a prefix and can be incomplete or less specific than the current card assignment. Do not use the result as proof of card authenticity, ownership, credit status, payment eligibility, or authorization. For a disputed result or account question, contact the issuer using the official contact information on the card or its official website.
