When you need to quickly calculate the area of a trapezoid but can't remember the formula, this tool instantly outputs accurate results. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with at least one pair of parallel sides. The area formula is: A = (Top Base + Bottom Base) × Height ÷ 2. Simply enter the lengths of the top base, bottom base, and vertical height, and the tool will automatically perform the calculation and return the area value with units.
How do you calculate the area of a trapezoid?
Directly apply the formula: (Top Base + Bottom Base) × Height ÷ 2. For example, a trapezoid with a top base of 5m, a bottom base of 7m, and a height of 4m has an area of (5 + 7) × 4 ÷ 2 = 24㎡.
Can I mix different units in the calculation?
No. All input values must use the same unit. The tool does not automatically convert units, so mixing them will result in an incorrect calculation.
Input values must be positive numbers greater than zero; units must be consistent; the decimal place setting must be an integer between 0 and 10; results apply only to standard 2D trapezoids.
For actual measurements, it is recommended to use the smallest unit uniformly (such as millimeters) and then control the output precision through the decimal places setting. For example: in surveying, if the top base = 1250mm, bottom base = 1800mm, and height = 900mm, the area = (1250 + 1800) × 900 ÷ 2 = 1,372,500mm² (approx. 1.37㎡).
