Quickly generate a subtraction chart up to 10. Supports printing and PDF downloads.
Enabling this will include basic subtraction problems involving zero (e.g., subtracting zero or resulting in zero).
Disabling this will generate a blank version suitable for practice and printing.
This is a watermarked preview. Click 'Generate Downloadable Version' to export as image, Word, PDF, or print directly.

Overview
Understand what the tool solves, how it works, and the boundaries of its data.
This chart lists nonnegative whole-number subtraction facts where the number being subtracted is no greater than the starting number. You can choose a maximum from 5 through 10. With the default maximum of 10 and zero included, the chart runs from 0 − 0 through 10 − 10: there are 11 possible starting numbers and 1 + 2 + … + 11 = 66 facts. Turn off zero to omit both subtracting zero and equations whose answer is zero; at a maximum of 10, that leaves 45 facts.
The result can be grouped by minuend (the starting number) or by difference (the answer). Grouping by minuend puts a family such as 8 − 0 through 8 − 8 together. Grouping by difference brings equivalent answers together, such as 10 − 3 and 9 − 2, both of which equal 7. This is a fixed reference chart, not a randomized worksheet.
Guide
Follow the workflow and verify inputs and outputs with practical examples.
Choose the maximum number, then decide whether facts involving zero belong in the chart. Check the displayed problem count because this choice changes which equations appear.
Select grouping by starting number or by difference. Keep answers visible for a reference sheet, or hide them to make a blank practice version.
Add an optional title, grade, or class name and select US Letter or another available paper size. These labels identify the sheet; they do not change its math.
Review the preview, then select Generate Downloadable Version before exporting an image, PDF, or Word file, or opening print. You can also copy the text version for further editing.
For example, a teacher preparing a blank chart through 8 can turn off zero, group by minuend, hide answers, and confirm the preview before printing. Regenerate the downloadable version after changing settings; the export controls apply to the current preview.
Use cases
See how the tool fits into real work and everyday tasks.
Show answers and group by minuend to discuss how subtracting larger amounts changes the difference. Switch to a blank version when students are ready to practice.
Start with a smaller maximum, then increase it as appropriate. A parent can use the answer version to check work and print the same range without answers for another round.
Copy the text for a custom handout, or export the preview for a printable reference. The optional title and class fields help distinguish copies without altering the equations.
Q&A
Find concise answers to common questions and confusing cases.
With zero included, each starting number from 0 to 10 is paired with every subtrahend from 0 up to that starting number. The row counts are 1 through 11, which sum to 66. Excluding zero removes the zero subtrahends and zero differences, leaving 45 facts.
No. The equations remain and their answer spaces are left blank, so the chart can be used for practice.
The preview is initially marked as a watermarked preview. Select Generate Downloadable Version after finalizing the settings to enable the image, PDF, Word, and print actions.
Notes
Review scope, result limitations, and important precautions before use.
The chart includes only nonnegative subtraction facts with a subtrahend no greater than the starting number. It does not make random questions, negative answers, missing-number exercises, or vertical problems. “Up to 10” refers to the selected maximum starting number, not every possible signed subtraction expression. Check the problem count and answer state in the preview before printing; classroom level and lesson goals depend on the learner and curriculum.
