When you need to verify the issuing region of a Chinese ID card, this tool accurately locates the registered place of residence by parsing the first six digits of the ID number (e.g., 110105 corresponds to Chaoyang District, Beijing). The first six digits represent the administrative division code defined by the national standard GB/T 2260, where the first two digits represent the province, the middle two represent the prefecture-level city, and the last two represent the district or county.
What happens if I enter the wrong ID number?
The system will immediately prompt "Invalid number format." Please check if it contains letters or has an incorrect number of digits.
How is data updated after administrative division adjustments?
The code database is dynamically synchronized according to the quarterly announcements of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. However, historical ID cards will still show the division name at the time of issuance, which may differ from the current administrative name.
This tool only supports mainland Chinese resident ID cards; IDs from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan cannot be queried. The results do not contain sensitive information such as names. Frequent queries will require CAPTCHA verification. Results are for reference only; legal identity is subject to official systems.
The final parity check digit can be used to verify authenticity. For example, if you look up an ID card starting with 110105, you can use the final check digit to verify whether it complies with the GB 11643-1999 standard. A typical example: 110105199801012X corresponds to Chaoyang District, Beijing.
